We taveled to Salt Lake City for Thanksgiving weekend. It was Tom's first time on the airplane and all in all, he did quite well. He slept the whole way up and passengers around us said as they got up to leave, "We had no idea there was a baby by us - he was so quiet!" Tom just slept in my lap the whole time!

Thanksgiving was very fun - we had two dinners as is customary when we visit for turkey day.

We ate first at the Gardner's, hosted by Shelly, and everything was quite delicious! Then we had a second meal at the Lymans later in the evening when we were hungry again- it was also very tasty! We were able to take this photo at Shelly's house of Reed and Jackie and all of their grandkids. The only grandkid missing is Baby Girl Young, Allison's baby, who will arrive sometime early next spring.
We were also able to take this photo of Tommy, me, my parents and my grandparents - a four generation photo!
Tommy was blessed by Dave on the 26th of Nov at Dave's home ward. It was very nice to be able to get together and have both of our families in attendance for his blessing. It was a beautiful blessing and Dave did an excellent job. My dad George Lyman, my grandpa Jack Butler, Dave's dad Reed Gardner, and our friends Kenton Anderson, Ben Jacobsen and Craig Thomson participated in the blessing. We were worried that Tommy was going to scream during the blessing because he was very fussy beforehand, but he calmed right down as the blessing started and began to suck on his hands, which soothed him quite a bit. Then Dave also gave a talk. He was super pumped to be asked to talk in his old ward and said the only way it could get better would be if Elder Oaks (who resides in his parent's ward boundaries) happened to be there - and you guessed it! He was there! Elder Oaks got to hear his own talk on service quoted by Dave. My mom and I also participated in the program - we played a piano/violin duet (vocalise by Rachmaninoff.) My mom happened to have her music placed under a drafty vent and it started to blow off during the performance. She tried to hold it with the hand that was also holding the violin and that didn't work, so Elder Oakes leaned forward and held her music for her the whole time! It was a very awkward position for him to maintain for several minutes, and afterward he was seen rubbing his shoulder.
The kids had a great time with Tommy. They loved holding him and playing with him. Seen here is Tommy with Ben and Abigail (my siblings.) Shannon (also my sister) sang to Tommy and soothed him when he was crying. She has a pretty incredible voice - I'm jealous! We had a great time, but Tommy was happy to be home and seems to be settling into his old routine. We hope for snow when we go up in February and look forward to seeing the Durhams on that trip!

Great pictures Steph -- thanks for sharing! I'm so sorry we couldn't be there to participate -- it sounds like a great weekend and a neat occasion. I'm glad you got to see so much of the gang, fun to see the pictures. And the Gardners have quite a grand group of Gardner grandchildren.
What did Dave speak about on Sunday? It sounds like you guys ran the show. :) If you want to come to Seattle, we'll take guest speakers/musical numbers as well.
And two turkey dinners -- nice work.
I'm glad you had such a nice weekend. Thanks for the update!
I am so bummed I missed you guys over Thanksgiving. I was looking forward to meeting wee Tom, and of course to seeing you both. It sounds like you had a fun and full trip - traveling with babies can be hard but Tommy did great! Anyway, thanks for the lovely post - I love catching up on you and seeing your lovely photos.
How was T's first Christmas? I hope it was a nice one for everyone....
