Sisters with their toddlers on the beach
We had a fantastic visit from Katie, Brandon, Elle and Sebastian! The first day we went to the beach where the kids had a great time playing in the sand and the edge of the surf. We went to fisherman's warf for chowder and saw some huge (up to a foot wide) jellyfish off the warf - something I had not seen or maybe just hadn't noticed before. We could see sea lions on some distant rocks but there weren't any on the warf that day for us to look at up close. That night was New Year's Eve and after the kids went to bed we watched "Man on Wire" and then all of us but Katie stayed up to welcome in the New Year by watching the ball drop over NYC on TV. The next day we went on a drive around the peninsula and down the coast a little and admired the scenery and neat architecture. Then when the kids got restless with the drive, we went to the Dennis the Menace park where the kids had a great time playing on the old train engine and the big slides. We ate lunch at Chipotle and dinner that night at Pizza Factory. On their last day it rained and we went to the aquarium where Tommy whined some (I think he was starting to get a little run down) and Sebastian and Elle were enthralled by the great displays. That evening I watched the first half of the Utah football game and then went to get some sleep before my overnight shift. Brandon and Dave watched the rest of the game and I only heard an occasional "Yes!" from the other room. Their whole trip was so fun for us, but the best part was that Tommy LOVED playing with his cousins. From the moment he awoke until bedtime he was running, chasing, playing and laughing with his cousins. It was sad after they left and he awoke saying, "Where's Elle and Sebastian?" Hopefully they will come visit again soon!

Sounds like a great trip/visit -- glad you all had so much fun. We'd invited Katie & Brandon to our place for New Year's Eve, but never heard back -- now I know why. :)

I really enjoyed Man on Wire -- thought it was well done, if a bit haunting with the parallels to other events involving the towers. But the wire conspiracy was by a man who loved and revreed them, and it was an intriguing story. The New Yorker did a review of it as well, and it sounds like the wire walker is quite a character.

Great pictures!
