SLC trip

Tommy wanted to ride in the suitcase but we were mean parents and made him sit in his seat on the airplane instead.
Dave and Tommy enjoy some choice sidewalk sledding

Dave, Kenton and Ben hit the slopes!

We had a great time visiting SLC last week where we enjoyed the snow, family and friends. I was not able to go up snowboarding this year given my big belly but Dave had a fun time going with friends and his brother Barry. Unfortunately our trip didn't coincide with the big snowfalls of previous weeks but Dave said it was still very fun and still managed to get pretty sore!

We also had a great time seeing many friends. We were excited to meet the new baby Noah and see Amy and her family. Tommy and I had a ball swimming with them at Fairmont Pool. We also saw Kenton & Molly and Ben & Allison and all their cute kids. We saw Emily as she is settling into her new house and job, and even got to see Lauren and meet her husband Rob and son Floyd in their new house!
We also got to spend time with family and have a nice time eating and joking together. Grandma Jackie had a great bingo game which Tommy really enjoyed because he got to spin the wheel.

The smog started to roll in at the end of the week and though we were sad to leave friends and family and the fun snow, we were glad to get back into the clean air on the coast in California. We also discovered that our trip was ill timed as far as leaving Cali as a rare January heat wave rolled in with gorgeous sunny days up to the mid 70's while we were gone. Tommy and I went to the beach the afternoon after we flew in and there were literally hundreds of people laying on the beach in their swimming suits (and I felt like a dork holding our fleece jackets on my arm as I didn't really realize how warm it was!)

Now we're back to work and our routine. We were excited yesterday with the inauguration of President Obama and are hopeful that the country and world will see better times. One line I liked of President Obama's speech was that now is the time to make tough decisions and stop being fearful and act. Hopefully that will inspire someone to buy our house!

Sounds like a great trip. I'm sorry we couldn't swing an SLC trip this year to see you. Glad you had fun though!
